WHAT WE BELIEVE
OUR MISSION
Our mission at Broadway Park is to love the people of our community to God.
Matthew 28:17-20 passage: We want to see all people in our community become disciples of God. We have experienced new life in Jesus and want that for our neighbors, friends, loved ones.
Matthew 22:36-40 passage: We want to love the Lord, our God, and all people in our community as we love ourselves. We believe the love of God can overcome broken relationships, addictions, estrangement, loneliness, racism, ageism, classism, and the other things in our culture that sin uses to rob humankind of the image God has placed upon us.
2 Corinthians 5:14-21 passage: We have been called to be God’s ambassadors, examples of the Lord’s kindness, love, and grace to the people God misses most who are unaware of God’s great love for them. We, too, were invited into this great love and want others to participate with us as we all become new creations!
OUR CORE BELIEFS
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. God has eternally existed in three persons in perfect relationship and unity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.
We are all made in the spiritual image of God, to be like God in character. We are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although humankind has tremendous potential for good, we are marred by a condition of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This condition separates us from God.
We all were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. Eternity is a place of eternal union and eternal life with God.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven’s glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.
Salvation is a gift from God to humankind. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can we be saved from the consequences and death that sin causes. Eternal life begins the moment we receive Jesus Christ into our life by faith.
The Spirit is co-equal to the Father and Son. He is present in the world to make humankind aware of our need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power and gifts for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily.
The Bible is God’s Word to all humankind. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth.
OUR MOVEMENT
We are associated with the Church of God-Anderson movement out of Anderson, IN. The Church of God is a global movement of people seeking to fulfill God’s mission in the world. We’re committed to studying the Word of God and faithfully living it out. To learn more visit their website.
